1.
Base hook with thread starting at eye and working
down to bend
2.
Tie in moose body hair
3.
Bring thread back to 1/3 back from eye , tie
in wing (upright
and divided )
4.
Select a pinch of deer hair and stack . trim
off tips and tie in just behind wing so that butt ends
hang over hook bend , trim off short tips that are standing
up behind wing wind thread back down to bend keeping
as much hair as possible on top of hook
(
I have found that tying in the deer hair this way helps
to build bulk without using yards of floss )
5.
Tie in floss run thread forward to behind wing
and wind on as much floss as you like
and tie floss off behind wing
6.
Carefully bring deer hair forward over the top
of hook ( making sure moose hair tail is left behind
) and tie deer hair down behind wing , trim excess
7.
Tie in hackle wrap 2 turns behind wing and 3
turns in front of wing tie off and your finally done.
Fishing
notes
I've
found these flies to work really well fished dead drift
at tail ins and outs of pools and because they are so
buoyant also work well as an indicator on a double presentation
rig-up
THEY
ALSO DON'T LOOK THAT BAD AS A TEMPORARY EAR RING WHEN
YOU FINALLY GET TO LOOK AT ONE. AFTER AN HOURS WALK
BACK TO THE CAR AND THE PAIN HAS SETTLED DOWN !
