As far as fishing the fly, it is one
I use in the northeast on the Mitta and surrounding streams, mainly
in smaller sizes, it is good fished in the riffles and in the bubble
lines in pools under the willows the fluoro dot is a sight aid on
the dull days and also when it is in the riffles.
I have generally found that the fish
just seem to sip it down and are in no particular hurry, it can
be especially good when the big Christmas beetles are around, you
can then substitute the fluro dot for some shellback which comes
in just the right colour for imitating the iridescent colour on
the wing case of those big beetles.
Tying Instructions:
| Step 1.
|
Attach thread at point "A" wind the
thread to the bend of the hook and back to starting point a
couple of times, finishing at the bend of the hook. Apply a
drop of superglue gel to the bed of thread and spread it with
a dubbing needle. Then tie in a 1/2" x 1/4" section
of the foam. |
 |
| Step 2.
|
Now apply the dubbing to the thread, and wind
on forming a very fat cigar shape body. Pull the foam over and
tie off, ensure you keep tension on the foam as you tie it in,
and do not snip off the tag end. |
 |
| Step 3.
|
After tying in the foam take the thread to the
front of the tag end. Now apply a small amount of dubbing to
the thread again, and wind on to form a small ball., once that
is done again pull the foam over and tie off as for the wing
case. Now snip away any excess foam, form a small head and whip
finish. The strike indicator or visibility aid is just a small
dot of fluoro craft paint applied to either the wing case or
thorax. Which one is entirely the users choice. |
