(BODY) Brown/Black 6/0 Uni Thread
BODY
Yellow Chenille
LEGS
Orange Pheasant Tippets
HEAD
Natural Deer Hair Spun and trimmed to shape
METHOD
Leaving a third of the
hook shank clear behind the eye, tie in your thread
and wind back towards the rear of the hook. Stop level
with the hook barb.
Tie in the chenille and
wind the thread forward to where you first started.
Then wind the chenille to this same point and tie off
and trim excess.
Take your pheasant tippets
and tie one bunch on each side of the hook. This should
be angled out from the body and roughly level in length
with the end of the hook. Trim excess.
Take some deer hair and
stack it in a stacker or your fingers. Tie this in without
spinning it so that you get a nice collar. Then add
several more sections of deer hair, one at a time, compacting
the previously added bunch before putting more on.
Tie off, add two half hitches
rather than whip finish. Then just trim to shape.
This is a very simple pattern.
It floats extremely well and is exceptionally durable.
The yellow under body and orange pheasant tippets are
a must as are a 'bluntish' head just like the natural
beast.
All you have to do now
is throw it at a fish!
