You would think that spotting off the high bank would be a bonus. Unfortunately it usually results in spooking the occupants of this run

What a place. If you were to design something from scratch intended as trout water, the blueprint would look something like this.

Elitist? Discriminatory? No on both counts. Everyone is able to fish here, it's just that you must use a particular method. If they can do it everywhere else in the world, why not here? Victoria's Fisheries managers are a joke.

One of my favourite rivers. There are not huge numbers of fish but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality.

James trying to bolster his stocks as a guide by sticking his mug in the frame. In all seriousness though, I don't know of any other young guide in the entire country that matches him for skills or personality. He is quickly becoming a favourite of many of our regulars.

Did I mention that the vast majority of our fish are taken on dry flies? Yes I am boasting about the quality of the fishery.

The prosecution would like to call its second witness. Is it true salmo trutta jnr, that on the afternoon of Thursday 29 January, you did witness your sister attack the victim with savage recklessness, without cause or consideration as to what injuries may be inflicted? Ridiculous I know but just go with it.

New Zealand Fly Fishing Trips 2009 - Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing Centre
These rivers are very tough to master and the days with substantial cloud can written off entirely for those that prefer sight fishing. A go slow approach and perfect weather can sometimes result in superlative fly fishing.

A pale backed fish taken from a light coloured stream. Yes, didymo is present in many waterways, but the nature undammed of kiwi streams means that the full effects are held at arms length.
