  • WHAT IS THE PFIGA?THE PFIGA

It is an incorporated association of professional fishing guides and instructors who provide their services to recreational anglers throughout Australia.

  • ARE THERE ANY ADVANTAGES IN USING PFIGA MEMBERS?

Yes, most definitely. The association was formed specifically to enable anglers planning to employ a guide or instructor to distinguish between dedicated professionals and others offering similar services simply to help defray the costs of their hobby activities.

  • WHAT MAKES PFIGA MEMBERS SO SPECIAL?

Provisional membership may be granted to those just starting up a professional guiding business provided they fulfil certain requirements. For the protection of clients, theses include that adequate public liability insurance is held, that vehicles and water craft are properly licensed and insured, and that a current first aid certificate is held.

Full membership is granted after one or two years of successful business operation during which time members illustrate and are recognised for their knowledge, skill and professionalism in teaching and guiding recreational anglers.

  • DO PFIGA MEMBERS CHARGE MORE?

There is no set schedule of fees charged by members. Each member charges fees commensurate with the services provided, which can vary from a few hours of group instruction to fully guided holidays including meals and accommodation.
