Sulphur
Dun
| The
Sulphur Dun as we call it is one of the species of Mayfly
that hatches for only a short period each year, but when
it does the fishing can be first rate. They are a larger
Mayfly being mostly in the size 14 with a few 16's and
are very easily seen on the waters surface. Colouration
is a distinct yellow-olive and patterns to match should
roughly try to imitate this. The wing also carries a distinctive
colouring with a streak of yellow-olive extending vertically
along the very front section to about three quarters of
the way up to the wing tip. As previously mentioned try
and match the colour of the body as closely as possible
but for the wing most of the variant honey or grey
Hi-Vis will suffice. |
 |
| Patterns to imitate this
insect should have the distinct dun profile. That is low
riding tapering body and prominent wing post. Flies should
on average be around a #14 to correctly mimic this Mayfly.

Focus more on getting the correct proportions, size and
shape rather than the exact colour. |

regarding the nymph and spinner of this species as soon as
we are able to.
