Grand Slam Rafting Package

This package is fully customisable to the needs the individual. Drift three of Australia's best tailrace fisheries in as many days if time is short or allow a couple of extra days to really make the most of the fishing.

Where and When

While we can start and end at any location, generally speaking we begin here on our home river (the Goulburn) and with an overnight stay locally. It's then up early next morning for a three and a half hour drive to the Mitta Mitta. We spend a day on this waterway and a night at the local hotel before a final jump across to the Swampy for another day of full on fly fishing. We fish until last light and hence we stay the last night in Khancoban before getting up the next morning for a five hour drive back to the Goulburn.

The Fishing

The Goulburn offers excellent rafting with dry flies the norm and plenty of fish to be sighted. It is a slower river with many bends and backwaters creating the ideal habitat for the dominant brown trout. There are many raftable sections and at least two full days rafting on this river if one was to fish the best sections.

The next river fished is the Mitta Mitta and it is very different in character to the Goulburn as it is situated in a much narrower/steeper valley. Downstream from Dartmouth there are miles of un rafted fly water with some of the best fishing in the country extending way below the township of Eskdale. This is a river where having a good oarsman is mandatory. Great evening hatches and terrific fishing with large attractors and grasshopper patterns can be expected.

Last on the list is the Swampy Plains. A river in open country with stunning vistas, it is a complicated beast that offers everything from ultra technical hatch fishing to deep nymphing and large terrestrial bashing. A great river and if the levels are right, fishing you will not soon forget.

This makes a visit outside of the scheduled October times well worth it with February often offering fishing of the highest calibre. Fishing with large size 8 rubber legged hopper patterns in the heat of the day can be outstanding. These trips are done on arrangement. Call for more information.

Details

While these trips can be run for a single angler, we generally find they work best for two fishing mates sharing the experience and expense. Trips can be designed for any number of days and on any of the mentioned waters. These trips are run on demand and designed to suit the particular needs of the participants. Please phone/email to discuss the options.
