GVFFC’s Trout Hunter trips are now available! This premium service ensures that you to miss the absolute bare minimum of work/family time and enables you to fish the sort of water that is usually reserved for trout bums and retirees!

Utilising our light plane service we are able to put you on the banks of the Swampy Plain river from Essendon airport in about an hour. Here you will be met by a guide and drift boat for a day of fly fishing escapism. Endless runs, riffles and pools characterise the Swampy and the potential for great fly fishing is almost limitless thanks to the cold, clear water, and the abundance of aquatic insects it harbors.

Single day trips are designed to have you on the water by 9am and back home in Melbourne before it gets dark. In the past these trips have been extremely popular with the ultra-time strapped executives out there, but with drought affecting so many of the state's rivers and streams. More and more fly fishers are going to have to travel to get their fix. Enter GVFFC and the 'Trout Hunter' service.

While the day trips are a great way to get out of town and onto the best fishing in the country in the shortest space of time, many of you will wish to maximise the value of the trip by staying two or three days. Flying to the Swampy will save you about 11 hours of driving which equals more fishing time and a guide and drift boat will put you straight onto the best fishing available. This option also allows you to take advantage of any potential evening rise that may occur.

The flights themselves are a real adventure and highlight of the trip. Passing directly over the top of Victoria’s alpine country you will see a plethora of famous landmarks and be able to see most of the state’s best trout rivers along the way. The low altitude view of the Swampy as you bank to come around and land is nothing short of breathtaking.
