Our streamcraft workshops have always Streamcraft Masterclass - Learn all you need to know about fishin moving watersbeen popular and we expect this two-day masterclass to be exceptionally so. Taking advantage of this wonderful time of year, we can perfect your river fishing techniques in everything from large tailwaters like the Goulburn, to small lowland streams like the Rubicon, Acheron and Stevenson.

This workshop is suitable for anyone wanting to improve on their skills in fishing moving water. All the guides here are GVFFC are stream specialists and will improve your understanding of river fishing ten fold.

Workshop Outline

  • Gear Overview
  • Understanding river composition and structure
  • How trout interact with their environment
  • Understanding catchments – learn when and where to fish based on knowledge rather than luck
  • Predicting, identifying and fishing hatches
  • Walking a river – what to look for and how to approach
  • Locating fish in river environments
  • Sight Fishing - Selecting techniques/flies when fish are visibly feeding
  • Matching the hatch – fly selection
  • Evening rises
  • Blind Fishing - Selecting techniques/flies when fish are not showing
  • Upstream nymphing
  • Across and down nymphing
  • Searching with dry flies
  • Catch and Release - Techniques for handling fish
 
PRICE: $300 per person. Includes sandwich or BBQ lunch, tuition, course materials and use of any gear as needed. Workshop starts at 9.30am Saturday November 10 at our establishment and concludes on dusk the following night.
