2004-2005
Season Wrap Up
The end of the season
is upon us and it has been a really interesting
one to say the least. The Swampy was a let down
this year with huge water releases during our
visits. But the flip side was the trips we did
up higher in the Snowy Mountains were all brilliant
with fish to 5lb being caught. A particular highlight
this year was the Thredbo.
New
Zealand was a great success with better weather
than the previous year but still not a normal
summer. Plenty of fish were caught with a good
number in the 3-5lb range and the odd sprinking
in the 6-9lb class. This is rapidly becoming the
highlight of the year for both guides and clients.
Local rivers turned
it on at times for some wonderful fishing. Biggest
fish from the Goulburn for the season was 5lb
with a fish Cameron got from the Rubi going close
to the same weight. Of course most fish caught
blind fishing on the Goulburn were about a pound
average, those caught in backwaters averaged closer
to 2lb.
The levels in the
Goulburn this year were weird thanks to an unusually
wet late spring to mid-summer period. Unusually
low but good levels under 4,000 megs contributed
to some good fishing but the end of sumemr and
autumn brought about extremely dry conditions
that have persisted right up until now. That saw
levels of the river skyrocket up and over the
10,000 mark and made all but backwater fishing
impossible. Even up untila fortnight abo we had
a high river thanks to demand downstream for irrigation
water. An unusual year to say the least as far
as level go.
On the technological
side of things we have shot a couple more videos
and are in the process of getting them ready for
sale. Our NZ has been ready for over six months
but we are still waiting for one last detail to
be tidied up before it can go on sale. We now
have a free promo DVD of our services for those
interested in our rafting services on the Goulburn,
Swampy drifts, NZ trips and also the features
of our centre and cottage accommodation.
Our stream is being
built as we speak and as of this minute is operational
which is great to see. A man made stream on private
property that is well maintained and open year
round. Also the fish in the lakes have come back
on the job with plenty of 6-12lb fish caught
in this past fortnight thanks to the cooler water
temps in the lakes. See photo.
The coming year is
going to be a huge one for us. We have so much
planned and it is very exciting. We hope that
if you didnt get up to see us this year that you
make the effort next season to join us on the
water. For all of you who have visited us and
helped make this past season the brilliant one
it was we say thanks and see you all again next
season.
PS- Season Closes
on midnight of Monday June 13th.
Our New Man
Made Stream
Finally we have finished
half of our man made stream which means a private
river running through or property, stocked with
fish and open year round. This has been a dream
of ours since we first started this business over
10 years ago and now it is finally coming
to fruition.
This is the ideal
learning tool and allows us to teach streamcraft
right throughout the year without the possibillity
of other fisherman walking through and also means
we can teach river fishing techniques through
the closed season. Click here for more info.
Calendar
of events
We have so much happening
over the coming year. Another round of trips to
New Zealand's South Island, The Swampy Plains,
Snowy Mountains, fly fishing workshops and fly
tying days. So much to do and so little time!

here and get the latest info to make the most
of your limited leisure time. There is something
for everyone..
